Earlscliffe College Summer School

Earlscliffe College Summer School offers a unique pre-university experience for students aged 13–17, delivered at a welcoming sixth-form college on the Kent coast, just one hour from London. The small, family-style campus, set within fully refurbished Victorian and Edwardian buildings, creates a warm and supportive environment where students are encouraged to develop independence, a global outlook, and deeper academic interests. Its seaside location adds a distinctive character to the programme, allowing students to combine serious study with life by the sea.

The programme is delivered as part of Summer Boarding Courses (SBC), a Dukes Education school and the UK’s top-ranked summer school, accredited by the British Council. Each year, SBC welcomes over 1,800 students from more than 100 countries, creating a truly international atmosphere that builds confidence, communication skills, and lasting friendships.

Earlscliffe’s academic offering forms part of the College Pathways framework, with courses including Think Global, Mini MBA, Global Leadership, Sustainable Futures, University Preparation, and English Language. Lessons are delivered through interactive discussions, collaborative projects, and real-world tasks that develop critical thinking, creativity, and teamwork. With 20 hours of tuition per week, students follow a structured, enquiry-based learning model that prepares them for future academic challenges.

Beyond the classroom, Earlscliffe provides a rich social and cultural programme featuring sport, creative workshops, coastal activities, themed events, and evening socials. Combined with strong pastoral care and comfortable en-suite accommodation on campus, Earlscliffe creates an inspiring summer environment where teenagers can discover their strengths and shape their future goals.

Earlscliffe College Campus

Earlscliffe College is located in the seaside town of Folkestone, Kent, less than an hour from London. The campus is within walking distance of the sea, the seafront, parks, cafés, and the town’s creative district, creating a safe and inspiring atmosphere that combines British tradition with the charm of a close-knit coastal community. The location is ideal for teenagers who value comfort and confidence outside a large metropolitan environment.

Folkestone is known for its vibrant cultural scene and its proximity to key destinations in south-east England. Nearby highlights include the town’s beaches and coastline, the Creative Quarter and Harbour Arm, and the famous promenade The Leas. On selected weeks, trips to historic Canterbury are also available. Excellent transport links make it easy to travel to London and other cities in the region.

Earlscliffe’s facilities are housed in beautifully restored Victorian and Edwardian buildings, adapted to meet modern standards of education and boarding. The campus includes well-equipped classrooms, cosy internal courtyards and gardens, student common areas, a dining hall, and residential accommodation with a range of room options. Thoughtful organisation of space, regular maintenance, and the constant presence of staff create a warm, safe, and welcoming environment typical of small British boarding schools.
