Malvern College was founded in 1865 on a site at the foot of the Malvern Hills in Worcestershire, one of the more distinctive settings among British boarding schools. It admits pupils aged 13 to 18 and is fully co-educational, with around 660 pupils drawn from more than 45 nationalities. The College holds HMC (Headmasters’ and Headmistresses’ Conference) and AEGIS accreditations. Its long history and international intake give it a particular character: academically structured and globally connected, yet rooted in a recognisable English landscape.
Malvern offers IGCSE and GCSE courses through Years 10 and 11. A Foundation Year entry at Year 9 prepares younger pupils for the demands of the main school. The academic range is broad, and the sixth form runs two genuinely distinct tracks.
Pupils choose between A levels and the IB (International Baccalaureate) Diploma, a combination that is relatively uncommon among UK boarding schools and gives international families real flexibility. A level results in 2025 showed 75% of grades at A*–B, with an average of A*AA. On the IB side, 100% of candidates achieved the Diploma in 2025, with a five-year average score of 36 points. A Pre-Sixth Form course is also available for pupils entering at that stage from other schools or systems, charged at sixth form rates.

Pupils are distributed across 11 boarding houses, a structure that underpins much of daily life at Malvern. Each house forms a smaller community within the wider school. With over 45 nationalities represented, the mix inside each house reflects the breadth of the international intake. Full boarding is the primary model for international pupils; weekly boarding and day places are available for UK residents. The school operates outside any religious framework.
The campus and surrounding Malvern Hills provide the setting for a substantial co-curricular programme. A rural location and well-resourced facilities support outdoor pursuits alongside more formal activities. Pupils take part in sports, arts, music, and drama. The school’s size (around 660 pupils) means participation is genuinely broad rather than concentrated in a few elite squads. The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE) and Combined Cadet Force (CCF) are available, consistent with Malvern’s character as a traditional HMC boarding school with an international outlook.
The campus occupies an expansive site at the foot of the Malvern Hills. The school has been developing its estate since 1865, and the grounds reflect that sustained investment across more than 160 years. For pupils arriving from dense urban environments elsewhere in the world, the hills, open space, and traditional English campus are a material part of what Malvern offers.
